When people think about creating an AI girlfriend, most picture a long form where you tick off eye color, hairstyle, and personality traits one by one. That's just the visible part. In reality, an AI girlfriend takes shape not in the first ten minutes but over the first few conversations. What exactly does "creating" involve?
We use one word for two separate things. The first is the character itself: name, personality, way of speaking, appearance. The second is the relationship between the two of you: how you met, what you call each other, which jokes have become "your" jokes.

Designing from scratch is great for someone who knows exactly what they want and enjoys putting it into words. But on their first try, most people get so caught up writing a character description that they never actually get to the conversation. Starting with a ready-made character and steering the relationship where you want it usually gets results faster.
The four layers that make up an AI girlfriend
1. Choosing a character
Look at the way they talk before their looks. Do you want someone calm who listens, someone who loves to tease, or someone who starts out a little distant and opens up over time? Reading the character's bio and checking their first message tells you far more than their photo. Alongside the female characters, there are also male characters. You're not limited to just one type.
2. The relationship framework
Set the foundation of the relationship yourself in the first few messages. "We've been friends for years and I'm finally confessing my feelings" and "our first date is tonight" lead to completely different conversations. A sentence or two is enough to set the scene. The character takes it from there.
3. The opening scene
If you want a more fictional start, the roleplay side comes in handy. Alongside ready-made scenarios, there are also roleplay characters written by the community. 4. Memory
This is where the real "creating" happens. If you tell the character your name, your job, or about the exam you mentioned last week, these become part of the relationship. The character remembers you, but what it remembers depends on what you share. The more specific you are, the more the character becomes "yours."
Can I decide what the character looks like?
On Fanchaty, appearance comes with the character. Each character has hundreds of ready-made photos, and the character sends you photos during the chat. There's no feature for generating custom images within the chat. So if looks matter to you, you need to make that choice at the very beginning, when picking the character. Private photos appear blurred on a free account. With Premium, they're unlocked and saved to your collection.
Is a free account enough, and when do you need Premium?
A free account is enough to choose a character, build the relationship, and chat. Chat is uncensored even on the free plan, but you have a daily message limit. Unlimited messages, long replies in roleplay, and creative mode are unlocked with Premium. If you want to hear the character's voice, voice messages are available on a limited basis with a free account. Do I need to provide personal information to sign up?
No. Sign-up doesn't ask for your name or photo, so you can start anonymously. The platform is for users aged 18 and over, and all characters are portrayed as adults. You don't need to download an app either: if you add the site to your home screen from your browser, it opens just like an app.
